A slogan that has been heard a lot recently is “To ignore evil is to be an accomplice to it”. This is in particular response to an incident that happened over 4000 miles away from the UK where a white policeman killed a black man who he was detaining as a suspect. Also presumably referring to similar instances where people have been unnecessarily killed intentionally or unintentionally as the result of the actions of others. Killing others is no doubt evil as it is discriminating against people because they are different and you don’t like them because of your prejudice. This also obviously applies if we don’t challenge this behaviour and we are therefore in effect an accomplice to this evil.

But what about other ways in which we can be an accomplice to evil? What is evil? This is something that has not been considered by many of these who have taken up this slogan. This is because in their opinion there is no God and therefore they personally make up their minds some action, word or thought is evil. In certain societies of the past killing someone and then eating them was thought to be acceptable and certainly not “evil”. It’s called situational ethics what is bad for you may not be bad for me. We make up our own minds. Is killing babies in the womb evil? It could be argued as seems to be the case that this is not evil because the greater evil would be to let the “Mother” (who doesn’t want to be a mother) struggle through the dangers of a pregnancy she doesn’t want and then struggle financially and socially because of the burden of bringing up a child she does not want (although there are an awful lot of couples who want to adopt and solve that problem). This is apparently the lesser evil – deliberately killing a baby which is not apparently considered to be human until he or she is born. So it is alright to deliberately kill babies (9 million lives lost in the UK in 50 years) but when a 46 year old man gets killed 4000 miles away it is such an evil that we need protest by assaulting policemen, whipping up hatred against anyone who does not protest, deface and throw statues in the river and deface war memorials on a day when we are remembering those who gave their lives for freedom (D-day 6th June).

Is there something wrong here? Yes because the Bible (which despite what many of these protesters think is most definitely the word of the living God) says “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” (Jeremiah 17:9). The truth is we are all wicked and evil as can be and that is why George Floyd was killed , why millions of babies are killed, why millions of others have been killed and why many of these protesters would also be killing others they don’t like if they could get away with it (have to make do with statues instead).

The solution – Christ died for the ungodly (Romans 5:6) so that evil, wicked, sinners like you and me could be saved. Repent now, trust in the Lord Jesus Christ in which you can be delivered from the bitterness and wickedness that is gnawing away and destroying you and you will be saved and have everlasting life in heaven.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)

The American Planned Parenthood organisation has “weighed in” with support for the Black Lives Matter movement in the wake of the death of George Floyd. What they did not make clear that had George’s life been ended instead by his parents 46 years ago they’re would have given all support to his killing. In fact they currently support in the region of 247 black American babies per day (90,000 a year) having their lives ended in the womb. As allowing the killing all babies in the womb seems to be a majority view among those “progressives” who support B.L.M. perhaps they should consider changing the movement’s name to “Black Lives Matter as long as their parents don’t want them killed in the womb”. Either way they need to take heed to their Creator who has said “thou shalt not kill” (Exodus 20).

“Stay safe” has become a common phrase used to others as a result of the COVID pandemic. One can take precautions of social distancing, limiting contact, wearing face protection etc. This may indeed help one to stay safe and hopefully avoid infection.

Sadly, though, even though we may be young and hope for many years of life ahead that is not always the case. Death may come in a moment to any of us – a road accident, an unknown medical condition or some other disaster may befall us and we could be eternity in seconds.

Are you ready? Are you permanently able to stay safe? You can be not by your own strength and efforts though. However you can be definitely sure of heaven in eternal life where there is no more sorrow, no more pain, no more death simply by trusting in the One who is the “way, the truth and the life” (John 14:6). You are a sinner who deserves hell but by acknowledging this before God and trusting in the Lord Jesus who paid for your sins you can be sure of being permanently safe or in other words saved. Repent, believe and trust Christ today.

The COVID19 tragedy has highlighted one thing above all others – that life at best is very brief. But what happens after you die? Many people have ideas about what happens when you die. Some say when you die that is all there is. This would be very believable except how do they explain things that make humans unique among animals – a conscience, self effacing love, emotions and reasoning power among other things. Also the many things that science can’t explain how we got here (evolution is discredited see Creation.com ), what existed before the universe, how big is the universe, what lies beyond it, how matter is held together etc. Everything points to an intelligent designer. Some say an intelligent being in another part of the universe that could have come here in an UFO is responsible for life. Why believe that when you can believe in the one that made you  – the living God of heaven?

Simple thing is that this is all written down in The Bible. God made the heaven and the earth. He put humans on the earth and gave them a simple rule to obey. But they disobeyed that rule and sin came into the world (Genesis 3). But God who is totally righteous and just already had a plan to deliver humans out of sin and misery. This he did when he sent his Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, into the world. He lived a perfect life because he was sinless and thus was able to die in the place of all human sinners which paid the price for sin (Romans 5) that otherwise a righteous God would have had to punish eternally. You need to believe this, repent of your sins and believe on the Lord Jesus and be saved. Then you know what will happen when you die you will be in the joy of the Lord forever and ever.

Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. Are you a sinner?  Everyone is! As a result of this pandemic, with people in their relationships being forced to be together more, the number of domestic abuse incidences has risen dramatically as has the suicide rate. That is where sin leads to more misery. Be saved and you can have a better life now and eternal life to come

Some men will say that’s too simple to believe. In fact they will believe anything except that! In the Bible there is the story of a man who had leprosy and went to a prophet of God for healing (2 Kings 5). He was told to go and bathe in a river and he would be healed. At first he wouldn’t do it because that seemed far too simple – he was expecting some great work he had to do to be healed. Eventually his friends persuaded and he did go to the river and was healed. Will you come to Christ and be healed? All your efforts are in vain simply trust Christ and you can know your future is assured for eternity when you die.
